Station 4

Step 1 - Meet the Problem & Task

Problem

You want a quick way to capture key ideas that students need to know about a particular text. Rather than just have them make a concept map, outline, or highlight a copy of the text, why not get them to make an animated GIF summarizing key concepts?

If vocabulary, include the definition, as well, and a picture of what the word. Or use a series of pictures to share the intent of the key idea.

Task

Create an animated GIF summarizing in simple words and rich images a story of your choosing.

Some ideas:

  • Create a series of slides in Google Slides or Powerpoint illustrating a story, then put them into Gifmaker.me
  • Microsoft Paint or Paint 3D

Step 2 - Create the Animated GIF

  1. Create the key idea panels for each aspect of the non-fiction text you wish to summarize or illustrate
  2. Save the pictures, or take screenshots of the pictures, then save them
  3. Put them into GIFMaker.me website to create your animated GIF
  4. Save the GIFMaker.me creation to your device

Step 3 - Turn In Your Project Creation

Ready to share your animated GIF?
